Saif Ali Khan stabbing: Woman with links to attacker arrested in West Bengal
Mumbai: A woman linked to the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested by police Monday after they conducted a search operation in the Nadia district of West Bengal.
According to investigations, the woman’s name was on the SIM card used by Shariful Fakir, a Bangladeshi national who had been arrested for the attack in Mumbai previously. To conduct the search, a two-person Mumbai Police squad traveled to West Bengal on Sunday.
Khukhumoni Jahangir Sheikh was the woman who was arrested in Chapra, Nadia district. She is thought to have known Fakir, who contacted her after entering India illegally from Bangladesh via the Siliguri border. Andulia in Murshidabad, West Bengal, is where Khukhumoni hails from. For more interrogation, authorities can request that she be sent to Mumbai.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times during an incident at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on January 16. After being taken to Lilavati Hospital, he had surgery to treat his wounds. The actor is still recuperating after being released on January 21.
